About Don’t Forget Us, Pet Us

Don’t Forget Us, Pet Us is a farm animal sanctuary providing shelter to animals at risk.

Why Don’t Forget Us, Pet Us?

My cousin, Michelle, has been an animal rights advocate for as long as I can remember. She is a board member and volunteer at the farm and introduced me to their mission a little over 5 years ago. The farm is located in North Dartmouth, MA, which is where I grew up, and where my family still lives. Since meeting the animals at the farm, I have volunteered and donated both my time and money to their cause. When volunteering, I do what needs to be done: cleaning stalls, feeding the animals, gathering hay, clearing debris, throwing balls for catch…

The farm is truly special to me since they take in animals who have nowhere else to go. Many owners who need or want to surrender animals have an incredibly hard time doing so as many shelters are full to capacity. Additionally, most of the animals are disabled in some way or need to be nursed back to health.

At the farm, all the animals are provided with not just shelter but love and community. In fact, on any given day you can see them—goats, horses, pigs, cows, a llama (Chippi), chickens, turkeys, geese, bunnies, dogs, cats, etc.—roam about together and socialize happily and freely. It’s quite a sight and tugs at my heartstrings every time.
