Since the creation of the SAM Charitable Gift Trust in 2012, SAM has donated to over 75 various charities. Charities include: All Stars Helping Kids Inc. aka Winning Play$, The Mayor’s Fund to Advance NYC, Coalition for the Homeless, Inc., and Meals on Wheels to name a few.
2018 – It was our distinct honor to sponsor “Sheconomics”, a special panel discussion on disrupting systematic and personal barriers to wealth, in conjunction with a rare performance by Gloria Steinem in her namesake play “Gloria: A Life”.
2017 – We continued to support financial literacy for children, by sponsoring an event at the Paley Center for Media. The event, “Black Women, Feminism, & Empowerment,” featured a group of extraordinary panelists including Gloria Steinem, Carol Jenkins, and Angela Yee.
2016 – We supported ArtWalk, benefitting the Coalition for the Homeless, the nation’s oldest advocacy and direct service organization that helps homeless women, men, and children by providing shelter, food, crisis services, job training and more.
2015 – We funded the building a specialized curriculum tailored to promote financial literacy with the Figure Skating of Harlem Ice-skating program.
2014 – We shifted our focus to financial literacy and began our partnership with Stacey Tisdale, founder and CEO of Winning Play$, a Life Skills and Financial Literacy program made available to high schools and other non-profit organizations.
2013 – After such an amazing response from clients to the kickoff of our 2012 charitable campaign, we decided to take giving a step further and launched the SAM “Support Your Cause” campaign whereby we set up “Gift 4 Giving” accounts for every client household credited with $50 to donate to a charity of their choice. We announced this campaign during our annual holiday mailing where we listed all the charities that received donations in 2012. The funds were allocated to 72 charities during this campaign.
2012 – The banner year of the SAM Charitable Giving Campaign. In lieu of the traditional holiday gift, we decided as a firm to lend our support to the relief efforts of those devastated by Hurricane Sandy. We sent out an email to all clients announcing our desire to empower them to assist those in need by awarding them with $50 each to donate to a charity of their choice. A composite donation was allocated to over 75 various charities.
